June is the beginning of hurricane season for us here in Hampton Roads. It is important that you have a evacuation or survival plan for both you and your pets.

Things you should have in a emergency kit for a dog or cat:

• Food and water for a minimum of 7
day

• 30 days of medication if needed

• Collar with emergency information

• Photos of your pet (needed if your pet is lost-good idea to have picture
of you and your pet together)

• Copy of medical records

• Collar, harness and leash

• Familiar toys and treats

• Crate or other type of pen

• First aid kit

• Pooper scoop, bags, and litter, litter box and scoop, deodorizer.

• Brush, this only clams them & you

• If you dog can be aggressive, you may want to consider a muzzle as well.

• A five gallon bucket w/ handle is a good container and easy to use and handle.

There may be other things that you need to add to your kit – specific to your pet – only you have that information.

JUST BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST AND HOPEFULLY WE WON’T NEED TO USE OUR EMERGENCY KITS!
